FAQs

Why Should I Choose You to Walk my Dog?

I am passionate about what I do. Being a dog owner myself, I know only too well the love you have for your dog because I feel the same about mine. I get so much joy from dogs because they give you so much and ask so little in return. Rest assured that I will treat your pet as if it were my own. I am responsible, caring, patient, and will ensure that your dog will enjoy every minute of its walk.

Do You Need Any Information From Me?

Yes, at our “Meet and Greet” session, I will be asking you plenty of questions about your dog. Everything from its habits, likes, dislikes, to what vet you use, and an emergency contact number. The more information I have about your dog the better it will be. I do not rush this process; I want to know as much as possible about your pet.

Are You Fully Insured?

Yes I have Full liability Insurance and I am CRB Checked

Where Will You Walk My Dog?

I use several dog walking places around the local area. I do tend to vary the routes to give the dog a change of scenery. However, if your dog prefers specific walks that he/she is familiar with, I am more than happy to use those. We can discuss this when we meet.

How Long Will The Walk Be?

The walk and play will range from 30 minutes to 2 hours. However, you will decide how long you want your dog out for. We can discuss this in further detail at the “Meet and Greet” session.

Will I Have to Pay Extra if The Walk Goes Over an Hour?

Absolutely Not! Regardless of whether the walk goes over by ten minutes or thirty minutes, there will be no extra charge. However, if you specifically want your dog to walk for longer than 1 hour, then there will be an added fee that we can discuss.

How Much of The Walk Time is Spent in The Vehicle?

In the vast majority of cases, I will not use a vehicle because the local area has an abundance of green spaces where a dog can be walked. So I will walk the dog starting from your home. If, on the other hand, you want to have your dog walked at a specific location, which is some distance away, then I will have to use my vehicle, and there will be an extra fee if the area is further than eight miles from your home.

Will You Walk My Dog Around Streets?

When we depart from your home, your dog will need to be walked along the street until we get to our destination. But my aim is always to walk the dog along natural pathways, fields, parks, and countryside areas. I am a firm believer in dogs and nature going hand in hand. It opens up a plethora of sights, sounds, and smells for your dog to explore. If you do want your dog to do street walks, then that will not be an issue. Sometimes it is good practice for a dog to be walked around roads and streets, as it builds up their confidence as they become used to street noises. I can also teach your dog to become “Street Smart” by teaching them to sit at crossings and not to pull towards other people, cyclists, or dogs. However, as this training takes time, there will be an additional fee. At the end of the day I am happy to walk your dog wherever you want me to walk him or her.

Will my Dog Always be on a Lead?

This will be your decision and whether your dog is recall trained. If you do want to let your dog have a run around without a lead, you will have to sign a consent form, which permits me to do that. If your dog is not recall trained, I can do recall training, but this goes beyond the scope of just dog walking, and I will have to charge a fee for the extra training

What if My Dog Doesn’t Like Walking in a Group?

Unlike other dog walking services, I only do one on one walks so your dog will never walk with dogs it doesn’t know.

Do I have to Provide Toys and Treats?

No, I will provide toys, treats, and water when I take your dog for a walk.

Do You Charge For The Time When You Meet my Dog?

The first appointment where I meet you and your dog is absolutely free. I will also provide a free first walk.

Will Walk Be Cancelled if The Weather is Bad?

Regardless of the weather, your dog needs to go out. Rain or shine, I will be there to take your dog for a walk.

Do You Have Any References?

I have many reviews and testimonials from satisfied clients, and you can see some of them at the bottom of the Homepage. I also have a Facebook page where people leave reviews. If you are happy with the service that I provide, then I would be grateful if you could leave a review by Clicking Here…

Do You Pick up my Dog’s Waste?

Yes, of course, I also provide the bags that are required to do so.

Do You Have a Cancellation Policy?

Yes, I will need at least 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel. If you cancel on the actual day of the walk, I’m afraid I will have to charge half the price of the walk. I hope you understand why this is necessary.

Do You Just Walk The Dog, or Will There be Play Involved?

I will always try to include playtime where it is possible. We all know how much our dogs love to play and how healthy it is for them. With dogs that have not had any recall training, it might take a few sessions until your dog has bonded with me, and I can confidently take the dog off the lead to play. The last thing that you or I want is to see your dog run away. Believe me, when I say that I want to play with your dog, but I also want to ensure that the environment is safe for me to do so.

What If I Have More Than One Dog That Needs Walking?

As previously mentioned, I only walk one dog at a time. However, if the dogs come from the same household, I will walk them together. There will be a discounted price for any other dogs which need a walk.

How Do I Pay You?

Most of my clients pay me in cash as this is easier for them, but I can also accept payments via Paypal.

What if My Dog Has an Accident?

I will already have any emergency numbers written in the dog’s diary. This will include your number, a second emergency number that you provide, and the number of the vet that your dog uses regularly. If you have pet insurance, then the policy reference number will be needed for the doggy diary. If you don’t have a regular vet, I will, with your permission, take the dog to the nearest vet to me.

Do You Have Any Canine First Aid Training?

I have basic canine first aid training, and I also carry a first aid kit with me each time I go out.

After Walking Your Dog

Your dog will come back home feeling content, happy, and a little tired. Don't be surprised if you hear snoring coming from your dog's basket at some point. Exercise not only stimulates your dog physically, but it also provides mental stimulation. New sights, sounds, and smells are what a dog lives for and this is exactly what I will provide. On top of that, I am always glad to spend a little time after the walk to have a conversation in letting you know how everything went.

I can assure you that your dog’s well-being will always be my highest priority. I want everyone in this relationship to be happy. Anything less would not be in either of our interests.

Most of the questions that you may have of my Dog Walking Service or of me as a Dog Walker can be found on the FAQs Page.

If there is anything else that you are unsure of, you can contact me either through my Contact Page or you can message me on Facebook.

Walking Your Dog

Fortunately, the local area has numerous places for a dog walker to explore. Having lived in Trimdon for most of my life, I can safely say that I know the area well. We are surrounded by countryside, fields, parks, and nature trails. I am a firm believer that dogs and nature go hand-in-hand.

I will limit as much as possible the time that your dog has to spend walking along a pavement next to a busy road. Your dog’s senses will be challenged far more by natural surroundings and the sounds and smells that places such as this offer.

I already have a number of very good routes that I use for dog walking, but if you or your dog have any preferences I will be more than happy to follow your instructions.

One on One Dog Walking Service

Some dog walking services take dogs for walks in groups. While in general, there is nothing wrong with this, and I would earn more money by following this path, I only take one dog at a time. There are a few reasons why I decided on this approach.

All my time and attention will be fully focused on your dog and not anybody else’s.
Your dog and I will be able to bond in less time while we are out walking and playing together.
Some dogs can be nervous around other dogs.
Dogs are not always going to get along, and there is still a chance that individual dogs may be aggressive to other dogs in a group.

I want your dog to know that while we are out, he or she is the most important thing to me during that time. You and I know that the one thing that dogs love is attention, and your dog will get all it can handle.

I can only make an exception when it comes to walking dogs in a group if you have more than one dog which requires walking. I feel it would be appropriate under these circumstances to walk them together.

If they live together and know each other, many of the issues that may arise in group walks consisting of dogs not known to each other would be irrelevant. You will also be pleased to hear that I will only charge half the price for each additional dog.

Meeting You And Your Dog

The first and most crucial step in my work is to meet you and your dog. This will involve a home visit so we can all get to know each other. Every dog is different, with their individual personalities, preferences, and character traits. I want to learn all I can about your dog, so the more I know, the more I can fulfill their needs and requirements. At this introductory meeting, I will learn your dog’s likes and dislikes while we bond and play so that I can give him or her the most enjoyable time possible on the walks.

dog training. Everything I learn will be logged into a “Doggy Diary” specifically created for your dog. The diary will be updated regularly with information about the walks. There are also other methods I use to track your dog’s walks and progress, which you find on the FAQs Page.

On average, this meeting takes around thirty minutes and is entirely free of charge. I also offer a Free One-Hour Walking Session after the meeting, or this can be set up on a different day if it isn’t convenient for you at the time. I will always suggest that you come along for this first walk if you can.

Accompanying me as I walk your dog gives you the chance to see how we get along, and to see if your dog is enjoying the time that it is spending with me. I do encourage you to do this because it will give you some peace of mind that your dog and I are going to become firm friends.
